POSITION SUMMARY

Established in 1974, the Rape Treatment Center (RTC) at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center is internationally recognized for its pioneering work and exemplary treatment, prevention, and education programs. The RTC is a leader in advancing policy reforms, creating multi-agency partnerships, and developing innovative service delivery models to help bring justice and compassionate care to victims wherever they turn for help. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your fundraising skills and make an impact in garnering support for the RTC as they provide vital programs and services to heal, education, empower, advocate and create change.

 

As our Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving, you will primarily be responsible for sponsorships, pipeline development and identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from prospects and donors with a specific focus on soliciting gifts at the $25,000+ level for the RTC and other priority areas as assigned. You will manage a portfolio of current and/or lapsed donors; will create individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies and timetables; and will work with the Senior Director of Development, RTC on applying for/submitting proposals and grants. As our Associate Director, you will plan and execute engagement and cultivation activities, donor communications, proposals and related materials. You will work with program administration and staff, development colleagues and a wide array of other internal and external constituents.  In addition, you will work in partnership with the Senior Director of Development, RTC to address the specific goals of these initiatives while collaborating with other HSD team members who are focused on a broad spectrum of fundraising projects and initiatives. Prospect Identification, Cultivation, and Solicitation

1. Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects/donors; identify legitimate prospects for support and secure funding from current/lapsed donors, focusing on gifts of $25,000+.

 

2. Qualify and create core of prospects; maintain awareness at all stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation.

 

3. Explore opportunities for engaging, cultivating, and soliciting new audiences; plan/implement cultivation activities to broaden base of support.

4. Create/implement strategies to increase participation of new donors; encourage current/past donors to renew at greater levels.

 

5. Conduct personal visits with prospects not managed by major gift officers; solicit leadership level and junior level major gifts as appropriate.

 

6. Meet or exceed department standards for contacts, visits, solicitations and dollars raised.

Proposal and Grant Applications/Submission

1. Maintain deep knowledge of the RTC and Stuart House, programs and services to develop accurate and compelling proposals and other materials.

 

2. Work with Director of the RTC and Sr. Dir of Development, as well as other key staff members to identify funding needs and opportunities, and to develop Letters of Interest (LOI) and proposals.

 

3. Coordinate and execute all aspects of LOI, proposal and grant application submission, including writing, editing, formatting, compilation of supporting documentation, and timely submission. Collaborating with RTC Director, as needed.

4. Develop and maintain a calendar of grant activities and other reports, correspondence, etc.

 

5. Track all donor contacts and proposals in CRM database.

Other Programmatic Responsibilities

1. Manage procedures for accurate and timely acknowledgement of gifts and complete gift reports as required.

 

2. Work with colleagues to advance long-range strategic giving opportunities to secure funding from diverse donors and to increase the overall diversity of UCLA’s HSD donor base.

 

3. Assist in the planning and organization of cultivation and events.

 

4. Develop strong, collegial and effective working relationships with colleagues throughout HSD, Development, External Affairs and across campus.

Minimum of two years of demonstrated annual giving or fundraising experience and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.

Minimum of one year of grant writing experience, preferably  in a university, hospital-based medical clinic, research institution or other organization of equivalent complexity

with a proven track record of success with foundation and organization funders.

Experience with the grant/proposal writing process.
