POSITION SUMMARY

The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans used by the UCLA University Club. The incumbent cleans the kitchen and special equipment, including ovens, grills, refrigerators, freezers, etc., takes the garbage out, and assists with deep cleaning duties. The Dishwasher also assists kitchen staff with receiving and storing supplies from vendors.


Department Summary

The UCLA University Club, operated by UCLA Housing & Hospitality (H&H), serves as a central gathering space for faculty, staff, and the broader university community to foster intellectual, educational, and social exchange. While the Faculty Club continues to function as a 501(c)(7) organization under the Association's governance, its day-to-day operations and strategic oversight are fully managed within H&H.

 

The UCLA University Club, a 501(c) (7) corporation and a social club registered with the California Department of State, was established in May 1960. It serves as a platform for members to engage in a wide range of formal and informal activities. These include intellectual discussions, educational programs, research collaborations, and social exchanges, all contributing to a vibrant interdisciplinary interchange and a strong sense of community.

 


Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Dishwashing

 • Wash and sanitize all dishware, glassware, flatware, etc., using the automatic dishwasher

 • Wash and sanitize all pots, pans, and utensils following the correct procedure per item

 • Inspect and rewash any items that were not thoroughly cleaned

 • Operate dishwasher according to instructions while keeping pace with the flow of incoming dishes

 • Maintain dishwasher, de-liming regularly as instructed by management, and promptly reporting any malfunctions and necessary equipment repair

Cleaning and Sanitation

 • Wash and sanitize all machinery and cooking equipment, disassembling equipment as necessary, cleaning ovens, grills, refrigerators, freezers, steam kettles, etc.

 • Clean the kitchen according to standard procedures, clean all mats, and adequately dispose of all boxes and garbage

 • Clean and sanitize kitchen drains, sinks, floors, and walls

 • Safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials

 • Deep clean assigned areas

 • Clean and maintain the dumpster area and loading dock, hosing down the dumpster each time the trash is emptied

 • Treat the dumpster and the surrounding area each time with enzymes to prevent odors

 • Keep the baling area clean and free of cardboard overflow, regularly compressing cardboard and baling to prevent a backup

Kitchen Support

Assist kitchen staff with receiving and storing supplies from vendors

Store deliveries neatly per storage and refrigeration instructions, rotate old stock, and inform management of any shortages or missing inventory items

Secure all food items and equipment to prevent loss due to theft, misuse, or carelessness

Ensure all locked areas are secured before leaving at the end of the shift
