POSITION SUMMARY

Perform simple routine and/or unskilled repairs or replacement of Plumbing fixtures, equipment of plumbing systems and related facilities using appropriate tools and equipment; assist Leads, Journey Plumbers, or Facilities Mechanics with tasks related to maintenance, replacement, or installation of plumbing systems and equipment. Identify malfunctions or problems and report to Journey Plumber, Lead Plumber, or Senior Superintendent. Replace toilet seats, bathroom hardware, faucet washers, or reset garbage disposals etc. Operate and maintain a variety of power or hand tools, transport materials and personnel to and from job site, clean up job site and return equipment and follow all safety procedures.

1. Under general direction of journeyperson, perform routine and unskilled plumbing maintenance tasks.

2. Assist Journey Plumbers or Facilities Mechanics with tasks related to maintenance of plumbing systems and equipment.

3. Operate and maintain power and hand tools.

4. Identify malfunctions or problems and report to Journey Plumber, Lead Plumber or Sr. Superintendent.

Repair

1. Clean stoppages in toilets and sinks.

2. Repair or replace minor plumbing fixtures such as emergency eyewash or shower fixtures, drinking fountains, lavatory faucets.

3. Clean roof and patio drains, gutters and downspouts.

4. Replace covers, signage, etc. associated with eyewash, emergency shower, and fire sprinkler system preventive maintenance work.

5. Replace sediment and plaster traps, fixture traps.

6. At request of Sr. Superintendent, Lead or Journeyperson, respond to trouble calls involving simple repair or replacement.

Administrative Tasks

1. Transport materials and personnel to and from job site.

2. Assist with the set-up and cleaning up of job site.

3. Return equipment and materials to appropriate locations.

4. Follow all safety procedures.

5. Maintain accurate hours worked on each job.

6. Respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime as required.

7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested by Supervisor.

Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles.

Working knowledge of the various power and hand tools, equipment, and materials of the plumber's trade.
