POSITION SUMMARY

Perform routine and semi-skilled tasks related to the plumbing trade in the maintenance, alteration and repair of building systems and related facilities equipment.  Under the general or direct supervision of a journey-level crafts person or Manager of Hospital Zone, independently or as part of a crew, run the sewer jet to clean sewer and storm drains, clean out sediment traps in waste system, and appropriately use and maintain sewer jet equipment.  Perform various other routine or semi-skilled duties related to construction trades including those tasks normally performed by a Facilities Worker.

Operate Sewer Jetter

Run the sewer jet to clean storm drains and sediment traps in waste system. Appropriately use and maintain sewer jet equipment. Provide shift coverage for the campus and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUMC) Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUMC), Center for Health Sciences Complex(CHS), Peter Morton Building (200 Medical Plaza), 300 Medical Plaza, Tiverton Guest House, Wasserman Building, and the West Medical Building regarding problems related to sewer. Provide information to sewer jet night crew who provide regular maintenance to campus and RRUMC, etc.              Assist in the preventive maintenance of roofs and roof drains for the campus and RRUMC, etc.

Maintenance and Repair

Perform full range of duties required of a Facility Mechanic, perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repair of campus buildings and related facilities. Identify and select proper materials, equipment, and tools for a particular job. At the request of managers(s), Leads, or Journey person respond to trouble calls involving a simple repair or replacement. Maintain, repair or  replace plumbing fixtures such as soap tanks and dispensers, toilet seats, bathroom hardware, and cold water faucet washers; repair vanity equipment; reset, repair or replace garbage disposal units etc.              Perform all work performed by a Facilities Worker. Snake pipe lines to unclog stoppages in toilets, sinks and floor drains; clean sediment traps in waste system; replace traps, filter screens, gaskets and seals; clean and/or lubricate piping systems, grates, tools and other equipment. Perform minor preventative maintenance on water fountains.

General Duties

Maintain accurate hours worked on each job. Operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools and equipment related to the plumbing trade. Transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from job site expeditiously. Follow all establish safety procedures at all times including inspecting tools and equipment for signs of damage, malfunction or deterioration on a regular basis. Upon completion of work, clean up job site and return equipment, materials, tools, radios, pagers and Kronos wands to designated storage areas. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Abatement Removal

As a member of the Super Hit Asbetos Team" perform asbestos, lead, mold, etc. removal. Contain, bag and remove contaminated items following all mandatory procedures and utilizing appropriate safety equipment properly. Properly secure area and protect the surrounding area during removal process.   Oversee other Facility Workers on "Super Hit Team". Report to supervisor and or manager(s) any problems or issues regarding projects. "

General and working knowledge of various tools, equipment and supplies of the plumbing trade sufficient to provide routine assistance to journeymen Plumbers.

Ability to make minor repairs, replacements, or installations using a variety of trade skills and equipment/tools. Ability to read blueprints.

Ability to operate a drain line video camera and a pipe depth locator highly preferred.
