POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Compliance reports directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Primary responsibilities include monitoring compliance with NCAA, Conference and UCLA rules and regulations; researching NCAA rules, case precedent and interpretations; evaluating initial eligibility, assist with monitoring recruitment database, providing rules education; administration of playing and practice seasons; time balance education; administrative and clerical support and other duties as assigned.

General NCAA and Conference Compliance Responsibilities

 • Act as the compliance department point person and liaison for TeamWorks.  Ensure staff is educated on how to best use the system for communication, forms and calendars. 

 • Responsible for updating and maintaining recruiting & compliance systems, including Teamworks and Compliance Assistant.

 • Assist w/ initial eligibility for prospective student-athletes; core course evaluations, foreign transcripts and transfer evaluations.

 • Liaison to assigned athletic teams and head coaches through the Head Coach Responsibility program.

 • Responsible for all compliance aspects and providing rules education for assigned athletic teams, coaches and student-athletes.

 • Responsible for collecting and evaluating annual coaching designations and reviewing outside income forms for NCAA compliance.

General NCAA and Pac-12 Compliance Responsibilities

 • Liaison to various departments as assigned.

 • Assist with rules education presentations for student-athletes and coaches throughout the year.

 • Assist with game-day compliance monitoring at various athletic events.

 • Research and provide interpretations of NCAA and Conference rules.

Time Management Program

 • Responsible for Playing Season Declarations and Dates of Competition audits.

 • Responsible for setup and configuration of playing seasons on TeamWorks.

 • Responsible for CARA monitoring by conducting weekly checks of practice log submissions to ensure adherence to NCAA rules and limitations.

 • Work with student-athletes to verify accuracy of practice log submissions.

 • Verify Time Management Plan declarations adhere to NCAA rules and institutional policy.

 • Conduct Time Management Plan review meetings in accordance with institutional policy.

 • Track changes to Time Management Plans and ensure compliance with NCAA rules and institutional policies.

 • Submit necessary waivers related to days off and other Time Management Legislation.

Administrative Responsibilities

 • Assist with scheduling for the Director Compliance. Interview, screen, make recommendations, schedule appointments, reserve meeting space and disseminate information and as needed for other compliance staff members.

 • Research and compile relevant documents, minutes, agendas and other materials for meetings, speaking engagements and conferences (e.g., biweekly compliance staff meeting, Regional Rules, NAAC, etc.).

 • Other duties as assigned by the Director Compliance.

Rules Compliance

 • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.”

 • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.  The incumbent is required to comply with the applicable rules, regulations and policies of those organizations.

    ◦ Review and retain all rules compliance disseminated by the DIA Compliance office.

    ◦ Report all NCAA and conference violations.

    ◦ Sign the annual NCAA Certification of Compliance form.

    ◦ Complete the Athletically-Related Income form annually.

    ◦ Comply with California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
