POSITION SUMMARY | Under the direct supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, lead custodial personnel in all aspects of housekeeping services, i.e., trash removal and disposal, dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing of walls and floors, cleaning of restroom facilities and restocking with supplies, vacuum cleaning, floor and furniture waxing, and glass cleaning. Make recommendations for corrective action within each unit to immediate supervisor in employee training and orientation. Ensure the security of the campus buildings by checking to assure they have been properly secured/locked. Encourage safe working procedures and report any safety hazards to supervisor. | | | |
Department Summary | We provide Custodial Services for UCLA’s over 12.5 million combined state supported and client requested square footage. We cater to all areas of our University, including specialized areas such as vivarium, recreational facilities, wet and dry laboratories and patient care areas. To make this all run smoothly, it takes a team of dedicated and trained custodians to provide our customers with the highest level of service while meeting their needs 7 days a week. |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Operations | 1. Perform full range of custodial maintenance duties in order to complete part or all of a given project. Assure adequate coverage of all work stations. (E) 2. Prioritize work assignments and assign work orders. (E) 3. Coordinate and discuss all aspects of project with supervisor; plan, schedule, and track progress of project; resolve concerns and issues in absence of supervisor. (E) 4. Respond to emergency/non-emergency calls by assigning appropriate personnel. (E) 5. Check campus building perimeters to ensure building has been properly secured and locked; report suspect individuals/ circumstances to supervision and/or campus police. (E) 2. Monitor job performance of subordinates, and provide input related to same to supervisor. (E) 3. Orally discuss work assignments with supervisor on daily basis in order to keep supervisor apprised of work progress and to resolve any problem(s) related to the job, write daily reports regarding job performance, safety hazards, trouble calls, etc., for submission to supervision.
