POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for maintaining Lake Arrowhead Lodge's (LAL) high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest service. The incumbent oversees all housekeeping operations, including assigning duties, inspecting guest rooms and public areas, investigating service complaints, and implementing corrective action as needed. The Housekeeping Manager establishes and communicates housekeeping standards through training, coaching, and performance evaluations. This position oversees housekeeping functions for the LAL property. This role is responsible for daily supervision of approximately 20 full-time career housekeeping employees.


Department Summary

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge (LAL) is a 52-acre conference and retreat destination located in the San Bernardino Mountains. The property features 83 guest lodging units and approximately 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, accommodating groups of up to 200 guests. LAL serves approximately 30,000 guests annually during the Conference season and an additional 4,000 guests during the Bruin Woods season. Through its lodging, dining, meeting, and recreational facilities, Lake Arrowhead Lodge supports UCLA's educational, conference, and alumni engagement missions while providing exceptional hospitality in a unique mountain setting.

Supervisory and Operational Duties

 • Oversee housekeeping operations, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management of housekeeping staff and supervisors

 • Directly supervise Assistant Guest Rooms Manager(s) and oversee guest room and public area housekeeping operations

 • Establish, communicate, and enforce housekeeping standards to ensure cleanliness, safety, and service expectations are consistently met

 • Manage staffing levels and labor resources based on occupancy, seasonal demands, and operational needs

 • Administer timekeeping, attendance reporting, payroll, and overtime monitoring

 • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, storage facilitiesto ensure quality standards are maintained

 • Respond promptly to operational issues, employee concerns, and guest service requests, implementing corrective action as needed

 • Oversee deep-cleaning programs, work order coordination, furniture moves, and other housekeeping-related projects

 • Research, evaluate, and recommend to leadership housekeeping products, equipment, furnishings, and operational improvements

 • Collaborate with Maintenance & Grounds, Project Management, and Capital Programs to support facility improvements and ensure compliance with University requirements

 • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and lead regular staff meetings

 • Foster positive working relationships with guests, staff, management, and campus partners.

 • Regularly interact with guests to ensure high levels of satisfaction and exceptional service delivery.

 • Investigate and resolve guest concerns regarding cleanliness, housekeeping services, and accommodations in a timely and professional manner.

 • Review guest feedback and satisfaction surveys, implement service improvements, and recognize staff for outstanding performance.

 • Partner with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and support special events, conferences, and seasonal operations.

 • Assist the General Manager with projects related to property appearance, furnishings, décor, and overall guest experience enhancement.

 • Maintain inventory controls, establish par levels, and oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of housekeeping supplies and equipment.

 • Review invoices, monitor expenditures, and prepare budget variance reports.

 • Evaluate housekeeping methods, equipment, and supplies to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
