POSITION SUMMARY | Under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent and/or Supervisor Carpenter, work with other shop Senior Superintendents, Supervisors, Project Managers and clients regarding various project requirements and oversee cabinet shop. Provide estimates to clients and schedules for cabinet and case work projects. Provide daily updates as to the status of the projects to the Senior Superintendent, Carpentry and/or Supervisor of Carpentry. Organize, assign, or modify daily work assignments of journey-level Carpenters / Cabinet Makers, Lead Facility Mechanics, Facility Mechanics, Facilities Workers, or Apprentice Carpenters in the shop. Assignments are given in terms of specific projects and/or expertise or specialty skills of Carpenters. Assist journey persons. Assign additional staff. Communicate concerns of client to Senior Superintendent or Supervisor. Continuously monitor all project job sites and inspect work completed for accuracy, timeliness, and quality of workmanship. Maintain in-shop supply inventory and monitor inventory levels to assure that materials and equipment used on a daily basis are available to satisfactorily complete a job function or when subordinate requests assistance. Assure that good safety practices are observed on the job site and tools and equipment are in safe working order. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Operations | 1. Oversee, prioritize work projects, and assign work orders to the Carpentry crew, specifically cabinet shop. 2. Monitor job performance of subordinates and provide input related to same to Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor. 3. Orally discuss jobs with Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor on a daily basis in order to keep them apprised of job progress, job performance of subordinates, and to resolve any problem(s) related to the job. 4. Visit job sites to discuss project status with carpentry crew to determine progress, accuracy, quality workmanship, and assess progress in relation to time schedules; correct problems on site. 5. Based on request of client, develop cost estimates to be approved by client prior to beginning of project. Discuss material choices, design, cost etc. 6. Meet, coordinate, and discuss all aspects of single or multi-craft projects with client: planning, coordinating, scheduling, and monitor progress of project, resolve client concerns and issues. 7. Evaluate extent of repair, determine appropriate corrective measures. 8. Provide carpentry crew with job instructions including materials and equipment to be used and time schedule in which the job should be completed. | 65% | Administrative Tasks | 1. Submit a written estimate to Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor including quantity, type, cost, and availability of materials and equipment, as well as labor requirements and skill level required to complete the job. 2. Monitor job performance of subordinates and provide feedback to supervisor. 3. Review the number of hours charged against a job for accuracy and reasonable for amount of work performed. 4. Complete material transfer forms and submit to Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor for approval. 5. Monitor inventory levels to assure that materials and equipment used on a daily bases are available to Carpentry crews. 6. Generate inventory status report and submit to supervisor. 7. Order materials and supplies from information provided on estimate or work request with Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor's approval. 8. Maintain records of material ordered; verify materials received; forward packing slips/requisitions to purchasing. 9. Complete client work order form according to established guidelines, logging parts and hours spent on each job. Review reports for correct billing and charge numbers. Document repair work completed in appropriate records/logs. 10. Following inspection of the job, return completed work request to Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor. 11. Train subordinates to proper work methods and practices in order for them to satisfactorily complete Carpentry job duties. | 20% | General Tasks | 1. Ensure that Carpentry crew maintains accurate hours worked on each job. 2. Operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools, and equipment related to the Carpentry trade. 3. Ensure the transportation of materials, equipment, and personnel to and from job site expeditiously. 4. Follow established safety procedures at all times including inspecting tools and equipment for signs of damage, malfunction, and deterioration on a regular basis. 5. Upon completion of work, clean-up job site and return equipment, and unused materials, tools, radios, pagers and Kronos wands to designated storage areas. 6. Respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime as required. 7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested by Sr. Superintendent and/or Supervisor. | 10% | Super "Hit Team" | 1.
