POSITION SUMMARY | The Center for Advising and Student Success (CASS) is a unit within the UCLA Extension (UCLAx) Student Services division. CASS's mission is to achieve positive student success by implementing a data-informed holistic academic experience for UNEX students from pre-enrollment to post-graduation. Central to the implementation of this mission are: a) a sound student success philosophy and the application of excellent customer service principles at all levels of student engagement with UCLAx, b) the provision of accurate and timely advisement on academic pathways and associated professional development resources, c) utilizing data to create scalable yet customizable services to optimize the student experience at UCLAx, and d) building, strengthening, and sustaining collaborative partnerships between academic and student services units within UCLAx. The Career Services Specialist develops and delivers career services, resources, and programs that drive career success of UCLA Extension students and eligible alumni. Working closely with internal division and UCLA stakeholders and external employer partners, Career Services Specialists cultivate and maintain employer relations to expand job placement opportunities for current students and graduates. The role leverages data to shape strategic priorities and support reporting efforts. While core duties center on career advising, program delivery, and employer relations, specific day-to-day responsibilities vary based on organizational needs. Additionally, all career services specialists are expected to actively participate in unit cross-training to provide seamless operational coverage across UCLA Extension programs and contribute to continuous team professional development that supports institutional objectives. Regular onsite work is an essential function of this position. The incumbent is expected to work onsite at UCLA Extension locations as scheduled and as required by operational needs to provide in-person services, deliver programs and events, collaborate with colleagues, engage employers and campus partners, and provide operational coverage. Deliver multiple tiers of career services to students and eligible alumni across multiple modalities (in-person, online, on phone) and delivery channels (group advising, scheduled workshops, drop-ins, and targeted one-on-one advising). 3. Coach students on developing strategic internship and job search skills for achieving their career goals. 4. Provide general career advisement, including but not limited to critiquing resumes and cover letters, and sharing job search and networking strategies. 5.
