POSITION SUMMARY | Under the general supervision of the Head Football Coach, and in collaboration with Assistant Coaches, the Football Analyst provides analytical information regarding all aspects of team strategy, schematics and philosophy including Offense, Defense and Special Teams from both the perspective of UCLA and opponents. The Football Analyst will work directly with coaches and staff to review, breakdown, and implement various aspects and strategies of the UCLA Offense, Defense and Special Teams from an internal perspective. Candidate must have ability and in-depth knowledge to: - Self-Scout UCLA Offensive, Defensive and Special Team schemes and game plans and create reports. - Study and generate reports relative to other schemes in College football and the NFL, in order to incorporate various scheme ideas into the UCLA Football system. - Complete daily office tasks. - Create and maintain practice plans, statistical reports, practice cards, video cut up's, presentations and game plans. - Focus on specific areas of game plans as needed and work with coaches and other staff to put team and program in best position to succeed each week. - Facilitate the creation of playbooks, video playbooks and game books. - Create strategic game plans for all opponents, including noting specific tendencies and trends Incumbent will be assigned to a specific scheme, rotating as needed. Incumbent will also be involved in developing, promoting and supporting the operational and strategic aspects the Football Program. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Duties & Tasks | • Work with the coaches in the off-season and regular season to plan, create, and implement Offensive, Defensive and Special Team philosophies for the Football program. • Responsible for assisting in the creation of the entire playbook. Works with each Position Coach to synthesize input into the playbook. • Responsible for collaborating with each Coach in creating game plans and strategy for each opponent. • Assist with grading players after each practice. ◦ Independently input and edit video from each practice into XOS video system. • Attend Team, staff and player meetings, synthesize information and assist with opponent scouting. • Break down each opponent’s system and unit (offense, defense, special teams). | 50% | Duties & Tasks | • Break down each opponent’s system and unit (offense, defense, special teams). • Create and regularly update a statistical analysis of UCLA’s own offensive, defensive and special team tendencies. Produce weekly reports to coaching staff regarding trends in data. • Create a strategic practice game plan that replicates the opponent’s game plan and schemes. | 20% | Recruiting Duties & Tasks | • Work with the coaching and recruiting staff in the off-season to assist with on campus recruiting visits. This will include both unofficial and official visits to the UCLA Football program. • Responsible for assisting in creation of an individualized playbook presentation that will be presented to each prospective student athlete on a campus visit. • Responsible for collaborating with each Assistant Coach in creating recruiting plans and strategy for each prospective student athlete. • Assist with logistical tasks as related to recruiting visits. • Independently input and edit video for each prospective student athlete into XOS video system. • Attend all staff and recruiting meetings, synthesize information and assist scouting department and assistant coaches with recruiting. | 15% | Administrative Responsibilities and Other Duties | • Liaison with Chief of Staff, Director of Operations, and Sr Associate Athletic Director, and for any item that has budgetary implications. • Generate reports as needed in regards to team and opponent performance. • Collaborate with Operations and Recruiting staff to aid in creating and executing team events. • Assist, on an as needed basis, with all official and unofficial visits as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations. • Perform administrative duties as needed. • Assist the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Recruiting Staff, and Operations Staff with any projects, as necessary. | 10% | Rules Compliance | • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.” • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, BIG10 and University of California.
