POSITION SUMMARY | Under the general supervision of the Head Women's Basketball Coach, and in collaboration with the Assistant General Manager and coaching staff, the Executive Director of Player Personnel and Brand Development is responsible for the providing strategic direction around brand strategies, roster management and retention, particularly in the areas of NIL engagement and advancement, brand development, and corporate partnerships. This position plays a critical role in preparing the program for best practices around player recruitment and retention while building and sustaining a championship-caliber program that enhances each student-athlete's brand. The incumbent will work independently to implement best practices in strategic personnel management in alignment with UCLA's standards of excellence and compliance with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and University policies. The incumbent may also assist the coaching staff with administrative duties that enhance the student-athlete experience. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | NIL and Brand Development | • Create and implement an annual student-athlete brand development curriculum. • Educate students on personal branding, public image, media engagement, and professional conduct. • Assist student-athletes in maximizing NIL opportunities while remaining compliant with NCAA and institutional policies. • Collaborate with institutional NIL resources, collectives, licensing partners and external agencies. • Develop strategies to increase the visibility and marketability of the Women’s Basketball program, especial to potential corporate and brand partners. • Monitor emerging NIL trends and research potential innovative opportunities. | 50% | Marketing and Program Promotion | Partner with Athletics Communications, Marketing, Creative, and Digital Media to enhance the program’s brand. Coordinate storytelling initiatives highlighting student-athletes and program culture. Assist with social media content planning and student-athlete focused campaigns Support promotional events, fan engagement initiatives, and recruiting content. Help develop annual branding campaigns aligned with the program’s mission. Connect student-athletes with alumni, corporate partners, and mentorship opportunities. | 25% | Player Personnel & Recruiting | • Develop and execute the program’s comprehensive roster management strategy and long-term roster planning. • Collaborate with coaching staff on recruiting priorities, evaluations, and pitches (surrounding their NIL offer/potential). • Coordinate transfer portal presentations and communication aligned with recruiting strategy. • Assist in the coordination of on-campus recruiting presentations related to player development and NIL resources. | 20% | Rules Compliance | • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.” • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.
