POSITION SUMMARY | The Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach will assist and advise the Head Football Coach in all aspects of the football program, from player recruiting and development to game planning and strategy and will review functions of the department while providing leadership and growth initiatives for coaches, staff and student athletes. The Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach will serve as an integral member of the football program while serving as an advisor with the entire football staff and student-athletes. The individual will work with coaches and staff on a daily basis to find efficiencies through objective measures using data driven decisions and also assist the head coach in alumni relations, fundraising, social justice initiatives and student-athlete development off the field. Incumbent will have a strong knowledge of college athletics, especially football and be able to positively impact the lives of those they encounter. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison for the Head Coach, Football in many areas in the department, on campus, within the Conference and nationally through the NCAA and AFCA. | | | |

(E) 6.             Provide feedback and guidance to student-athletes during a transformative period in their lives. (E) 7.             Work with the student-athletes to guide their choices both on and off the football field, including any permissible Name, Image, Likeness ("NIL") activities. (E) 8.             Be available to student-athletes during times of need in many areas of their lives. (E) 9.             Collaborate with department and campus staff to address the concerns of the student-athletes in the football program. (E) 10.             Understand program's sport science initiatives and be able to articulate the benefit to student-athletes on how to best prepare for success on and off the field, in the classroom and in the community. (E) 4.             Provide statistical and data analysis for team on daily, weekly, monthly, season basis to engage coaches and especially Head Coach in operations of daily programming. (E) 5.             Through knowledge of talent and sport, help identify potentially successful student-athletes each week that best position the program to be successful. (E) 6.             Collaborate with coaches to develop roster into a cohesive unit for season overall and week to week (E) 7.             Provide self-scout of UCLA after practice and games to identify players that best help program improve and be successful. (E) 8.             Study existing film to prepare and have thorough understanding of current roster and areas of improvement. Work with Head Coach and Assistants Coaches to best address those areas overall and week to week. (E) 9.             Posses a strong understanding of current schemes on all parts of football game (offense, defense, special teams) and assist coaches in developing strategies to combat them and be successful. Assist with the coordination of daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual plans along with Head Football Coach, Chief of Staff, and Football Sport Administrator to best maximize student-athlete schedules and times based on NCAA regulations and academic needs. 2.             Review program procedures for football staff and student athletes and ensure all staff members are adhering to systems, controls, and policies of the program, department, University, Conference, NCAA, and state. (E) 3.             Maintain knowledge of NCAA, Conference, campus, University, and state policy and governance regulations to disseminate and execute policies as needed to maintain program compliance and operational efficiencies. (E) 4.             Assist in review of football program staff to assign duties in the most efficient manager that remains consistent with department and campus goals and policies. (E) 5.             Remain up to date with Compliance policies and programs and communicate with appropriate staff/coaches, including Head Football Coach, to confirm policies are met as well as intent. (E) 6.             Communicate with the Head Football Coach, Chief of Staff, Football Sport Administrator or designee(s) concerning progress on student-athlete initiatives and leadership plans. (E) 7.             Collaborate with senior department management to enhance programs and processes that create efficiencies throughout the sport and administrative areas and other campus entities as needed. (E) 8.             Provide leadership, advice, and assistance to department management, staff, and coaches, and represent the interests of the programs and department on a variety of campus issues. (E) 9.             Continually work with football staff to represent the goals of the program and values of the department at all times, including department, university, and NCAA compliance in all ways (E) 10.             Understand staffing plans for recruiting and review plans and expenses to ensure efficient use of time and resources available to program.
