POSITION SUMMARY | Under the general supervision of the Head Football Coach and Chief of Staff, the Director of Player Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for leading and overseeing the professional, personal, and social development of football student-athletes. This role directs comprehensive programming that supports student-athlete success in personal growth, academic achievement, and athletic performance. In addition, the position oversees football alumni relations, fostering meaningful engagement and connection between former student-athletes, the program, and the department. The Director also serves as a key advisor to the Head Coach and assistant coaches on administrative matters related to player development, academic progress, and overall student-athlete well-being. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Football Player Development | • Oversees student-athlete education on the responsible use of social media and its impact on the UCLA Football brand and personal brand development. • Provides leadership, guidance, and support to football student-athletes and staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and personal growth. • Reviews, coordinates, and approves guest speakers and educational programming focused on leadership, character development, career readiness, and life skills. • Ensures football student-athletes participate in the annual Wooden Academy event hosted by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to support leadership and character development. | 40% | Football Player Development | • Coordinates and oversees the scheduling, participation, and attendance of football student-athletes in community outreach and engagement activities, both on and off campus. • Ensures football student-athletes fulfill all community service requirements and attend all required educational workshops and developmental programming. • Oversees the planning and execution of networking events, senior programming, development workshops, and related player development initiatives. • Oversees student-athlete training in media relations, including interview preparation, press conference presentation, and compliance with institutional and NCAA rules governing media interactions. | 0% | Alumni Relations | • Leads and oversees football alumni relations initiatives designed to maintain meaningful engagement between former student-athletes, the football program, and the department. • Oversees the nomination, selection, and coordination of game captains, including hosting and engagement responsibilities on game day. • Manages alumni game-day experiences, including pregame field access and on-field recognition opportunities. • Oversees alumni ticket allocations and coordination for both home and away football contests. • Assists football alumni with access to the Then, Now, and Forever pregame tent at home games, ensuring a welcoming and organized alumni experience. | 40% | Alumni Relations | • Coordinates and supports alumni attendance and participation in football-related events, celebrations, and special programming throughout the year. • Collaborates with internal departments, including ticketing, marketing, and development, to enhance alumni engagement and stewardship efforts. • Serves as a point of contact and advocate for football alumni, providing guidance, communication, and support related to program access and engagement opportunities. | 0% | Administrative Responsibilities and Other Duties | • Support recruiting events by developing and deliver tailored programming on Player Development resources and the UCLA Football alumni network for prospects and their guests during recruiting visits (official, unofficial, camp days, junior days, game day visits, etc.) • Coordinate alumni and former player involvement during recruiting visits to highlight program legacy, professional development opportunities, and post-football success pathways. • Oversee visits logistics related to visits engagement opportunities including player panel, family programming and program culture presentations. • Assist the development staff with planning and execution of the annual football team banquet, including student-athlete engagement and event coordination. | 15% | Administrative Responsibilities and Other Duties | • Collaborates with the Chief of Staff and Director of Football Operations in partnership with the marketing staff for the planning and execution of Senior Day, supporting families, and program stakeholders. • Assists the Assistant Director of Football Operations with the contact for all Football Student Athlete parents and family. • Perform additional administrative duties as needed. | 0% | Rules Compliance | • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.” • The DIA s governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), and University of California System.
