POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director of Sports Medicine – Football, coordinate, at a high level, athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation to UCLA student-athletes. Organize injury prevention programs. Share responsibility of Athletic Training services for Football and student-athletes. This position will be assigned specific coverage for Football and/or other sports as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine –Football and/or Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. Specific coverage will be determined upon review of applications.  Athletic Training services to include: coordination of physical exams for team, evaluation, treatment and documentation of injuries, design and supervision of rehabilitation programs, and supervise and counsel sports medicine student interns assigned to practice and game coverage. Communicate and document athletes' progress to athletic training staff, physicians, conditioning staff and coaches. Maintain written and computerized documentation on all athletes' injuries, treatments and rehabilitation. Refer injured athletes to UCLA team physicians as appropriate. Administrative and other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

 • Share responsibility of Athletic Training services for all sports and student-athletes as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. This position will be assigned specific coverage for Football and/or other sports as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine –Football Athletic and/or Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine Athletic Training services to include: Evaluation and treatment of injuries at all practice sessions and games.

Training and Supervision

 • Identify and organize opportunities for staff professional development.

 • Maintain necessary units of clinical education per requirements of the NATA by attending courses and/or following criterion outlined by the institution.

 • Supervise sports medicine staff and student interns as assigned. For students, mentor second and third year sports medicine student interns to ensure timely advancement in the sports medicine student internship program.

Administrative and Other Duties as Assigned

Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director Sports Medicine – Football and/or Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine as pertain to management of logistics of the football sports medicine program

Perform regular safety checks on all rehabilitation equipment, organize maintenance and repairs, and evaluate need for purchasing new equipment. 

Work with representatives from rehab equipment companies to select best and most cost effective goods - including, but not limited to: braces, strengthening and stretching devices, electrical modalities, etc...
