POSITION SUMMARY | Join us and advance your career as an Assistant Director of Development with UCLA Athletics. UCLA is proud of its comprehensive athletic program and heritage. The collective accomplishments of Bruin teams and athletes are testimony to the efforts of many dedicated and talented individuals: the student-athletes themselves, as well as coaches, administrators, and support staff. The athletic department also benefits from the strong support of faculty, students, alumni, and fans with fundraising playing a significant role in the continuation of these collective accomplishments. Reporting to the Senior Director, Stewardship, the Assistant Director, Development assists signature events, and donor engagement, and leads event hospitality events. In addition, the Assistant Director, Development works with the Director, Bruin Varsity Club to cultivate former student-athletes toward greater participation and engagement with UCLA Athletics, including membership in the Bruin Varsity Club's "Premier" membership level. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Event Planning | • Assist in the planning and execution of signature events including the Athletic Director’s Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. • Manage logistics for large-scale events, ensuring seamless execution and an exceptional experience for key donors and stakeholders. Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and internal teams to ensure the success of events while staying within budget and meeting deadlines. • Plan and coordinate high-impact special events for UCLA Athletic development department, focusing on donor engagement and fundraising. • Oversee various hospitality events, including donor engagement activities before home football games, pre-game gatherings for basketball games, donor trips to away games, luncheons, and other one-off events. | 50% | Event Planning | • Foster relationships with donors by providing personalized event experiences that strengthen their connection with the UCLA athletics program. | 0% | Bruin Varsity Club Program and Event Support | • As it relates to former UCLA student-athlete target group, assist with and support the execution of various elements of the Bruin Varsity Club, including renewals, UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame, NCAA Championship and team reunions. • Collaborate with the Director, Bruin Varsity Club to implement marketing and cultivation strategies for former UCLA student-athletes. • Coordinate strategies for continuous stewardship to assure regular contact with former and current UCLA student-athletes through personal visits, letters, emails and other written materials, phone calls and events. • Develop strategy for and oversee implementation of Bruin Varsity Club Social Media accounts to keep constituents informed on engagement opportunities and activities and achievements of UCLA Athletics. | 25% | Bruin Varsity Club Program and Event Support | • Assist the Director, Bruin Varsity Club to actively seek opportunities to involve former UCLA student-athletes in the life of UCLA, placing former UCLA student-athletes on Athletic Department, Alumni Relations, and other campus-wide leadership committees, taskforces and boards. | 0% | Stewardship | • Coordinate strategies for continuous stewardship to assure regular contact with Wooden Athletic Fund donors through campus visits, tours, letters, emails and other written materials, phone calls and events. • Assist with various stewardship programs including but not limited to a birthday program, first gift program, and recognition standards. • Develop strategy for and oversee implementation of Wooden Athletic Fund Social Media accounts to keep constituents informed on engagement opportunities and activities and achievements of UCLA Athletics. • Collaborate with Senior Director, Stewardship to strategize around donor retention and increased giving. • Duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Stewardship. | 20% | Rules Compliance | • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.” • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and University of California.
