POSITION SUMMARY

We encourage you to join the UCLA Alumni Affairs team as the Assistant Director of Alumni Career Engagement. This is a remarkable opportunity to demonstrate your ability to manage multiple projects, grow your digital engagement and technical skills, and showcase your capacity to be a strong collaborator as you work with us to expand and enhance the alumni experience at UCLA. UCLA's Alumni Affairs builds and sustains active engagement with our 700,000+ alumni throughout their lifespan. This role will be vital to connecting UCLA alumni to one another in the digital space, and engaging our alumni community across the globe.

 

As our Assistant Director, you will help design and deliver innovative professional development programs for alumni at every stage of their career lifecycle. You will lead the strategy, daily management, and growth of UCLA ONE—our premier networking platform—and drive engagement across our digital communities, including LinkedIn, social media, the Alumni Association website, and email channels. By leveraging platform analytics, you will facilitate meaningful connections among alumni, students, and the broader campus. Additionally, by providing a high level of customer service, you will serve as the primary point of contact for user inquiries, and manage digital career initiatives such as a job boards and dedicated content channels You will also oversee seamless data sharing across campus departments as part of this critical role for our department wide engagement initiatives. Digital Community Platform Development and Management

1. Translate alumni and staff needs into clear recommendations and requirements for platform enhancements, partnering with technical teams and vendors to advance implementation.

 

2. Define and communicate business and user requirements for platform enhancements, serving as a bridge between users, internal stakeholders and technical partners.

 

3. Gather and incorporate user feedback and engagement data to identify opportunities to improve digital experiences. Regularly assess industry standards and best practices.

 

4. Ensure platform efficiency and effectiveness; address and resolve technical problems, issues and needs. Apply inclusive and equitable design practices to ensure digital experiences are accessible and responsive to the needs of diverse alumni communities.

5. Troubleshoot technical issues with technical/customer success partners; advocate for platform upgrades and changes to help user engagement.

 

6. Curate experiences and content on the platform to maximize user experience and overall feel of our digital communities and engagement opportunities.

 

7. Test/refine digital community engagement approaches based on user feedback, observed behavior and evolving alumni needs.

 

8. Manage Jobs Board: oversee RSS feed, post jobs and improve usability, overall look/ feel.

 

9. Promote/facilitate our online groups; meet with campus partners to ensure smooth on-boarding, launch, and growth, develop group engagement strategies, and moderator trainings

 

10. Manage user approval process; identify, address, and mitigate user issues within the community.

11. Implement user engagement strategies through platform and community specific tools, such as the Feed, Posts, Digests, etc.

 

12. Collaborate to ensure seamless integration of online and digital communities in ongoing Alumni programming across the organization.

 

13. Ideate and execute digital and in-person campaigns to create awareness and acquire users for all digital communities and engagement opportunities.

 

14. Create and maintain partnerships with academic units to ensure successful engagement of campus units in our digital career engagement initiatives.

 

15. Lead and participate in meetings with other institutions to share best practices.

1. Create digital campaigns for events that promote student and alumni engagement in mentorship and networking.

 

2. Manage customer inquiries for programs, such as Alumni Mentor Program.

 

3. Provide event support, such as check-in preparation or staffing for alumni and student career engagement events.

 

4. Identify and implement creative marketing strategies to increase awareness, adoption and ongoing engagement with the platform.

 

5. Work with the Alumni Career Engagement team to manage strategy and posts for social media and website communications.

 

6. Organize and curate Alumni Career Engagement content for constituents using digital channels and communities.

 

7. Utilize Canva / Photoshop to create graphics for social media aligned with UCLA alum brand standards.

Partner and Constituent Relationship Management

1. Work with volunteers and campus departments to create meaningful mentorship programs.

 

2. Source, identify, and vet alumni and students in different campus departments/organizations to create pipeline opportunities for alumni looking to hire Bruins and provide real-world career training/insights.

 

3. Conduct phone calls and email correspondences with employer/campus partners, and potential volunteers; provide training and on-boarding for digital communities/tools.

 

4. Work cross-functionally with campus partners to ensure successful programming and initiatives.

 

5. Create and deliver pre-recorded and live presentations to prospective users and partners, schedule opportunities to present to internal/external constituents, and increase awareness in the student and alumni community.

Data Management

1. Regularly ensure data is updated in all Alumni Affairs systems in relation to our platform and digital tools.

 

2. Provide data reports to team members based on the raw data of our platforms and tools.

 

3. Create visualizations of data and analytics found from UCLA ONE, CRM, and other sources. Liaise with data staff to create engaging and relevant reports and images.

 

4. Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends, assess performance and generated insights, using tools such as Tableau as appropriate.

 

5. Work with CRM staff to ensure data transfer of current data into our CRM systems. Utilize established processes to maintain data quality of the platforms and groups that we manage.

6. Analyze, interpret, and upload user engagement metrics into the Alumni Affairs CRM, delivering comprehensive reports and performance dashboards to senior management.
