POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Admissions Services reports to the Director of Compliance with a focus on admissions, initial and transfer eligibility, and athletics eligibility. This role is responsible for assisting with academic evaluation and collection of high school, college and international transcripts, applying both NCAA eligibility requirements and UCLA admission standards.  The Assistant Director assists with monitoring student-athlete eligibility for selected intercollegiate sports and all prospective student-athletes, and supports the development of educational materials for meetings with coaches, staff and student-athletes.

 

Under the general supervision of the Director of Compliance and Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Services, the employee works collaboratively with the Compliance Department, Office of Academic Excellence, coaches and campus colleagues. The individual is expected to independently prioritize and complete ongoing responsibilities in accordance with established departmental guidelines and University policies.  Work will be subject to periodic review for progress and compliance standards.

 • Assist the Director of Compliance with interpreting and applying University of California (UC) System admission guidelines in the evaluation of academic records for prospective student-athletes from domestic and international high schools, colleges and universities.

 • Communicate with coaches regarding missing transcripts, test scores, and other required documentation to facilitate the admission clearance of incoming student-athletes.

 • Assist the Director of Compliance with the collection of academic documentation and preparation of materials for student-athlete admission committee meetings.

 • Assist the Director of Compliance with monitoring prospective student-athlete UC admission application submission and processing.

 • Inform coaches and designated staff of admissions procedures, requirements and deadlines, maintaining ongoing communication to ensure compliance with University policies.

 • Assist the Compliance Office with the processing of NCAA Eligibility Center tasks related to incoming student-athletes.

 • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance and Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Services.

Rules Compliance

 • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee”.

 • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.  The incumbent is required to comply with the applicable rules, regulations and policies of those organizations.

    ◦ Review and retain all rules compliance disseminated by the DIA Compliance Office.

    ◦ Report all NCAA and conference violations.

    ◦ Sign the annual Attestation of NCAA Compliance Form.

    ◦ Complete the annual Coach & Staff Athletically Related Outside Income Form.

    ◦ Comply with the California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
