POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Academic Searches and Recruitment oversees the search and recruitment process for all ladder and non-ladder academic positions at the School of Law. Under the general guidance of the Assistant Dean for Administrative Services & Special Projects, serves in an advisory capacity to the Chair and members of the Law School's Appointments Committee and all Ad Hoc search committees to mitigate potential labor and employee relations issues in compliance with appropriate collective bargaining agreements and APM. The incumbent manages all aspects of the academic recruitment program at the School of Law, which includes tracking the recruitment and selection of candidates in accordance with university requirements and requirements set by external accrediting bodies. The incumbent will evaluate and make recommendations on faculty search initiations and subsequent search reports, secure waivers of search as needed, and produce academic hire offer letters. The incumbents will evaluate the effectiveness of current recruitment strategies, propose and implement process improvement for the next recruitment cycle, and ensure training of Law School administrators on the academic applicant tracking system. The Manager of Academic Searches and Recruiting serves as a key member of the Dean's Office team.

Faculty Recruitment

1. Work closely with the Vice Dean and Appointments Committee Chair to manage all aspects of the law school's academic recruitment efforts, including recruitment conferences. (E)

2. Prepare search plans and manage the recruitment and selection of candidates in UC Recruit, including adhering to university reporting requirements pertaining to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and in accordance with university requirements and requirements set by external accrediting bodies. (E)

3. Manage all aspects of faculty candidate visits to the law school, including travel arrangements, interview schedule, distribution of candidate materials, and all related logistics. (E)

4. Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty candidates and provide candidates with pertinent information about UCLA, the School of Law, and its faculty. (E)

5. Assist the Vice Dean, Associate Dean, and Academic Personnel Office with processing new academic appointments. (E)

6. As needed, and in consultation with the Dean's Office and central university staff, assist new faculty recruits and visiting professors in their housing and relocation needs, including processing relocation reimbursements. (E)

7. Oversee on-boarding of academic hires, ensure employees have contact information and access to all critical resources at the Law School. (E)

1. Provide high level administrative support to the Chair and members of the Appointments Committees. (E)

2. Track ongoing searches, maintaining all files and materials, retrieving and distributing any information as needed by the Committee, including providing information on law faculty from all U.S. schools in national database to assist in lateral searches. (E)

3. Work closely with the Vice Dean and Appointments Committee Chair to streamline the work of the Appointments Committee with respect to recruiting, record keeping, and maintenance of candidate files. (E)

1. Provide high level administrative assistance to the Chair and members of any Ad Hoc search committees for non-ladder academic appointments, including searches including academic fellows and similar hires. (E)
